GrampasKits Projects
THE FIRE IN THE SKY KIT
This activity requires a dark room, and is easier done after dark.
The kit contains and expensive convex lens, and some modeling clay. Grampa mounts the lens in the clay, and places it on a table. Then Grampa lights the candle, included in the kit, and places it at different distances from the lens. The farther away the wall is, the larger the image is.
You’ll hear lots of “Wow’s” when your Grandchildren see the upside-down flame, clearly shown on the wall, and greatly enlarged. They can guess how many times larger it is, and how the lens acts as a magnifying glass.
